Post 2 – March 19, 2020 (posted 4/2) Heavenly Battles

As I was fasting and praying, (along with a group fast called by Lou Engle, an American Prophet), to seek God’s intervention in the coronavirus crisis, I was drawn to Daniel chapter 10 again and again. In it, Daniel, the Prophet of God, was in a partial fast for the nation of Israel. He was seeking God’s will earnestly and denying himself rich food, wines and meat for three weeks (Dan. 10: 2-3) The text then states, “On April 23, as I was standing on the bank of the great Tigris River, I looked up and saw a man dressed in linen clothing with a belt of pure gold around his waist. His body looked like a precious gem. His face flashed like lightning and his eyes flamed like torches…” What follows is a vivid description of the angel God sent in response to Daniel’s fasting and prayer. The text describes the battle the angel had fought, in the heavenly realms against demonic forces, for twenty-one days since the beginning of Daniel’s fast. In short, as Daniel prayed earnestly, God released an angel to bring the answer, but the answer had been delayed by spiritual warfare in the unseen realm.

In my circumstance during the coronavirus-fast, it was as if the Holy Spirit spoke to me specifically through Daniel 10. The lesson: God calmed my fears and reminded me that earnest prayers, along with repentant hearts, of many in the Church would bring about God’s supernatural response and answer to the crisis. I specifically felt the Lord hi-light (the time around) the date of April 23 as a special, future, potential turning-point in this battle against the world-wide pandemic.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NLT)

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.

How about you? Have you been seeking God earnestly in the covid-19 crisis? If so, take heart and keep praying. Examine your own heart, repent of your own sins and pray for many in the Church to do the same. I believe, like in Daniel’s day, that God’s angels are doing battle against the forces of evil in heavenly places. With persistent, earnest prayer from believers with repentant hearts, God’s will is sure to bring a breakthrough answer from heaven to earth.  While some in the government/ healthcare/the supply chain/essential services are on the front-lines of this battle on earth, others of us who are Christians are being called to #stayathome and earnestly #pray ! I felt the Lord was reminding me (and now you) that even if his answers seem ‘delayed’, like Daniel’s were, he was sure to answer! May his kingdom come, and his will be done, on earth as it is in heaven, amen!
